A Chinese immigrant living here illegally is suing three city cops, saying they beat him mercilessly in a Queens park, his lawyer said.
Mengmeng Lin, 53, said through lawyer C.J. Wang that he was playing cards with four men Tuesday at Clement Clarke Moore Park in Elmhurst when the trio came by around 8 p.m.
Lin, who doesn’t understand English, tried to walk away, but an officer knocked him down and began punching him, he claimed. The other cops joined in and thrashed his back, he said, alleging the beatdown lasted about 20 minutes
Lin, who doesn’t understand English, says the beatdown lasted 20 minutes.
“I’ve been in this country for 20 years and I’ve never been arrested,” said the 5-feet-9, 110-pound Lin. “I am scared they will come back and beat me again.”
A city Law Department spokeswoman said the agency will review the claims.
